Chap 31: Revolution, Rebuilding and New Challenges

Today in class we learned about the challenges of the 21st century. We learned about these challenges through the presentations of our classmates. We first learned about the population decline in Europe. Because women are having less children, the population significantly decreases which could cause some major problems for European leaders. First of all, if there are less people, then there will be less people to pay the taxes for social security and health care. This could cause an increase in birth rates. Women are having less children because they either can not afford to have more children or they have career goals that could be ruined if they have any more children. Although this maybe good for the women's career, it is very bad for the future of their country.

We also learned about global security concerns. From what i learned, Global security is the safety of our entire world, not just one nation. Some major factors that impact our world are nuclear bombs. these bombs could easily make our world unsafe because it could wipe out our entire planet. another factor is global warming. it not only affects one nation, but our entire world.

Throughout these presentations, it surprised me that Europe was having a population decline. I actually thought that Europe's population was booming, much like our population because of the increase in immigrants.
